Life Sciences Startup Streamlines Asset Management Using the Nuvolo SMB Solution

A life sciences startup needed an economical, scalable way to optimize its asset management processes. The company is currently experiencing rapid growth. In fact, much of the staff (including IT, QA, and facilities) was hired within the last six months, so the organization needed to scale its processes up to match its expanding team.

As part of this, the organization was looking for a better way to handle vendor and asset performance reports, vendor certifications, asset tracking, and more.

The Challenge

All asset information had been logged manually, and the organization was 100% reliant on spreadsheets. This meant data was stored across multiple systems, making it harder to find key information quickly and easily.

The organization needed a better process for managing its assets. They required a more streamlined way to enter information (including asset name, plate, model, and upload certifications from vendors). Plus, they wanted a full cloud-based solution.

Why Nuvolo?

The team evaluated a few integrated workplace management systems (IWMS) and computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) options, and they decided on Nuvolo Connected Workplace for several reasons.

Nuvolo presented a unified, easy-to-use approach to connecting information and processes across departments. It is purpose-built for life sciences companies, meeting both GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements. All equipment and asset records are saved on one platform, allowing users to see and pull any activity associated with an audit request, including onboarding, maintenance and calibration, usage, and retirement.

Additionally, the team chose to implement the small to medium-sized business (SMB) offering, so they are able to get up and running quickly. The SMB solution requires only minimal configuration and setup. Nuvolo hosts the software instance, so the organization doesn’t need to worry about infrastructure or maintenance costs.

An Opportunity to Scale Up

Although they’re using the SMB solution for now, they can upgrade to the full Connected Workplace platform in the future. This includes the OT Security solution (for securing operational technology), Projects solution (for capital project management), and more.
